Public Hearing on Elimination of Route 150

The public hearing set for May 13 to discuss the proposed elimination of Bus Route 150/Bonita Springs has been postponed until June 10 at 5:00 p.m. Route 150 will continue to operate through September 30, 2008. At the June 10 hearing Interested persons may comment on the proposed eliminattion of the route effective October 1, 2008. The public hearing will be held in the Board of County Commissioners Chambers, located in downtown Fort Myers, at 2120 Main Street. The Route 150 bus will extend service on that day, ending at Publix at 9:19 p.m., to allow Bonita Springs residents to attend the hearing.

 Have a neat idea for a transportation project in Lee County?  Think you know how to improve transportation services?  Then come and share!!  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

 NEW funding sources are available to implement original and innovative projects recommended by the PUBLIC.  That means YOU!   Under Job Access and Reverse Commute and the New Freedom programs LeeTran is seeking your ideas on new transportation projects.  New projects must serve targeted populations including the following:

  • Low-income
  • Unemployed and Under-employed
  • Elderly
  • Disabled

Commission Approves Fare Increase

Lee County Transit will restructure its fares starting Oct. 1, 2008 as a result of rising fuel, labor, and supply costs. Passenger fares represent less than 20 percent of the resources needed to operate service and the last fare increase was in 1994. Details of the proposed passenger fare changes are provided in the chart below.

Its is important to note that the transfer fare of 15 cents will be eliminated.  Full fare or the use of a transit pass will be required each time a passenger boards a bus, even if the passenger is transferring from one route to another.

 

We encourage passengers to purchase an All-Day Pass on the bus for $2.50 (starting Oct. 1) if their travels will require a transfer. This pass allows unlimited travel within a 24-hour period.
