Executive Summary The purpose of this plan is to ensure that no person shall on the grounds of race, color, creed, national origin, sex, age or disability be excluded from participating in, or denied the benefits of, or be subject to discrimination in employment under any project, program or activity receiving federal financial assistance from the federal transit laws. LeeTran is a recipient of federal grant funds administered through the Federal Transit Administration. LeeTran is the brand name for transit services provided by the Transit Department of Lee County government. This plan references specific Lee County Policies and Procedures as well as Administrative Codes, which are incorporated into this plan by reference and included with this document as attachments. Where available, a web link has been provided to facilitate access to the information. Lee County affirms its commitment to providing a workplace free from discrimination in order to take advantage of the diversity of human resources, which exists in its population. Employment opportunities offered by Lee County will be available to all persons based on their individual ability to perform without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, gender, marital status or disability. This policy encompasses Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action, Harassment, and the overall concept of fair treatment wherein non-merit factors are not used as a basis to perpetuate discrimination. Violates of this policy will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination. Retaliation against anyone involved in an Equal Employment Opportunity Complaint or Equal Employment Opportunity activity is illegal and will not be tolerated. Retaliation can form the basis of a separate complaint. These provisions, protections and policy have been adopted and are incorporated in Lee County Employee Manual adopted by the Lee County Board of County Commissioners May 11, 1994, last revised February 12, 2002 and specifically noted in Policy Number 201 "Equal Employment Opportunity" which can found online through the Lee Countys main website and are listed at the end of this summary. |
